Children transition into the Pre-Kindergarten room at four years of age. The classroom holds up to twelve children. Pre-K curriculum is developed to enhance each child’s academic and social skills in preparation for kindergarten. Activities include letter/word association and recognition, name recognition and spelling, number recognition and recitation, and personal information retention practice. Children also explore the academic subjects of mathematics, literacy, and science through theme-based units, which are balanced with plenty of time to be creative and to play outdoors daily (weather permitting). Preschoolers have opportunities to attend field trips throughout the year, and at the end of the year, Pre-K students are honored with a graduation ceremony. Children's growth is also continuously evaluated and progress reports are sent home twice per year.
